work....

You hear it in the
press conferences and meetings, in the exhibition rooms and during the listening sessions
-- the sniffling and coughing, the moans from aching joints and fever. This year's flu has
hit the CES hard, and the SoundStage! crew has not been spared. Marc Mickelson
got it first, then Doug Schneider. Both have been slowed, but not stopped -- like most
here at the CES who have this year's nasty mixture of germs. It's especially bad for the
first day and then eases up, but the cough, which emanates from deep within the chest,
stays to cause pain with each hack. Cough drops help, as does drinking lots of Gatorade to
rehydrate.
So during preparation for CES 2001,
before we pack our clothes, laptops, digital cameras, paper and pens, we will be
getting flu shots -- guaranteed.
