LIVE Standout Room - Avalon Acoustics, Classé |

Immediately upon entering the Avalon
Acoustics/Classé room in the Golden Nugget, we were struck by the sound -- clean,
dynamic, and musical, with incredible soundstage depth and breadth. And we were surprised
to find this big sound emanated not from the Avalon Sentinel system in the background
($85,000), but from the company's svelte Opus speakers (foreground, $13,995 per pair).
Amplification duties were performed by Classé's Omicron amplifier ($11,000), and the
Classé Omega preamplifier ($10,000) provided control and volume, with cabling by First
Impressions. Like many other vendors at the CES, Avalon and Classé used Sony's SCD-1 SACD
player as the front-end, and the amps rested on stands by Germany's Finite Elements. Jim
Causey described the room's sound as "involving, engaging, and sweetly
musical."
