LIVE Standout Room - Paradigm |

While the CES is often the place where manufacturers
showcase statement-level products, the value-priced goodies really stand out by
comparison. Paradigms new $676 Cinema HT system is compromised of two pairs of
Cinema loudspeakers (priced at $139 per pair), one Cinema CC center-channel loudspeaker
($119) and a single PDR8 90-watt powered subwoofer ($279). However, despite offering this
value-priced package, Paradigm recommends using dipole surround speakers, specifically
their ADP70 speakers ($249 per pair), in place of one pair of the Cinema loudspeakers
(which brings the system price to $776). It was this slightly higher priced system that
Paradigm displayed. The sound was very smooth and had excellent clarity and detail without
a hint of the fatigue or edginess that plague inexpensive speakers. While the subwoofer
was turned up a tad too high, undoubtedly to flesh out and impress in the rather large
room, it showed excellent tightness and control suitable for both music and movies. Doug
Schneider summed the system up as "amazing for the price." Doug Blackburn
proclaimed that "this is really good!"
