Coverage of HI-FI '99 from Chicago, USA -- May 12-16, 1999
Described as "a D'Appolito system that goes much further," the 297-pound Evidence is said to be much less room dependent because "the acoustic energy of the speakers is focused at the listening position." One driver in each pair is rolled off to control dispersion. The speakers are completely modular; the two bass cabinets and midrange/tweeter enclosure are completely separate. Dynaudio touts this as an easy way to upgrade the speakers. Driven by a full Mark Levinson Reference system (No.33 mono amps, No.32 preamp, No.30.6 DAC, No.31.5 CD transport), the 92dB-efficient Evidence clearly resolved the bass overtones of the drum thwacks of "Fanfare for the Common Man," and Reference Recording's Dick Hyman Plays Fats Waller was clear and impactful. |
