Joseph's new $15,000/pair Pearl loudspeakers made a very impressive debut with an array of
established and respected components -- there was practically a constant line at the door
waiting to hear the 10-minute demonstration. The system delighted both Doug Schneider and
Greg Weaver with its very dynamic and detailed sound, excellent bass, and ultra-pure
midrange and high-frequency performance. Associated components included an Oracle Delphi
Mk.V turntable with Graham 2.0 tonearm and van den Hul Frog cartridge, Oracle CD player,
VTL TL5.5 preamplifier with phono stage, and double-decker VTL MB750 Reference amplifiers.
All cabling was from Cardas, and power conditioning was via Audio Power Industries
Ultra-series products. The system was difficult to take a picture of with all of the black
draping around it, but it was very easy to listen to.
