Coverage of HI-FI '99 from Chicago, USA -- May 12-16, 1999
Speakers were The Legend ($3995/pair) on The Unique stands ($749/pair) driven by The Triode monoblock amps ($5495/pair). The LAD-L2 linestage, The Legend D/A Converter ($4995) and Legend cables rounded out the system. The total price was in the $25,000 neighborhood, and the sound justified it -- with music, that is. The two-channel video presentation, though impressive, was just too loud, obscuring the system's wonderful delicacy and detail. |

found the music presentation in the Legend Audio Design room to be among the very
best-sounding he heard at the Show -- high praise given all the big-name, megabuck gear
floating around. Everything used bears the Legend Audio Design moniker, making a strong
case for the synergy of a one-manufacturer approach.
