SoundStage! LIVE Standout Room - Perpetual Technologies

Six years in development, the Perpetual Technologies P-1A DSP engine performs loudspeaker correction, specifically in the phase and amplitude domains. It is not currently available, but the demo here made us anxious to try it with our own speakers. The effects are not subtle, opening up the soundstage noticeably and delineating bass lines -- among other benefits. The system used was made up of known products: Vandersteen 2CE speakers, TacT Millennium Mk II digital amplifier, Genesis Digital Lens, and Theta DaViD transport. The P-1A will be available in August at $950 for the engine and $399 for the speaker-dependent correction software. Mark Schifter has assured us that SoundStage! is at the top of the reviewing list.
