SoundStage! LIVE ShowStoppers! Series 3

Marc Mickelson with Richard Kohlruss of Hi-Fi Forum and the very cool-looking 50Wpc Pathos Classic One remote-controlled integrated amplifier ($1950). SoundStage! has a review planned.

SimAudio's solidly built Moon Eclipse 24/96-capable top-loading CD player. It has an external power supply and weighs a hefty 32 pounds. SimAudio's first production run of the Eclipse is already sold out.

Big sound from a small package, Gallo's new Nucleus Micro loudspeaker system ($699) is about as unobtrusive as a high-end product can get and looks to be a winner. Just when are they going to be available? Gallo's Gary Pelled says that "limited quantities" are available immediately, with full-scale production in just a few months. The SoundStagers agree -- VERY impressive!

Thor Audio TPA-30 monoblock amplifiers ($9990 per pair) that use a pair of EL34 tubes to generate 30 watts of power.

Coming later in 1999, Anthem's new AVM1 surround-sound processor (complete with tuner) will retail for approximately $2000.

Von Schweikert Research's new VR3.5 loudspeaker is priced at $3500 per pair with wood finish all around. A cloth-wrapped version is also available at a lower price.
