Standout system in a larger-than-average room that allowed for the 3.8 speakers ($7200 per
pair) to be placed very far apart. And as you might expect, the soundstage they generated
with the all-Audio Research system (two VT100 amps, LS25 linestage, CD2 transport, DAC3
digital-to-analog converter, and Litzlink interconnects and speaker cables) was immense,
but it had no blind spots that the speakers couldn't fill in. The sound was all ProAc --
smooth, full, extended up and down, and always easy on the ears. The pair of 3.8s on
display were in a gorgeous ebony finish that adds to the cost of the speakers, but looked
well worth it.
