The Best for Show Reporting
Coverage of Top
Audio & Video 1999
from Milan, Italy, September 9-13
| September 8 - The Day
Before |

A 7.5-hour plane ride along with a six-hour time
change from the Eastern Standard Time zone, and finally topped off with an $80 USD cab
ride from the airport to our hotel, made for a tiring day for our team. Doug Schneider is
shown resting up for the big days ahead.

The accommodations at the Quark Hotel Centro Congressi Golden Tulip are definitely
upscale, especially when compared to those at the Travelodge for HI-FI '99.

We finally woke up and started looking around.
Despite the fact that show has not yet begun, we came face to face with Clearaudio's
Reference turntable upon entering the lobby. LP playback is obviously alive and well in
Italy.

At the other end of the lobby a completely different technology is making its presence
felt. Hitachi has a huge display, and shown are their widescreen televisions for
home-theater use. Some models feature progressive-scanning technology that will make your
DVDs look even better.

Unfortunately, we couldn't shoot more product pictures today. However, check back tomorrow
for the finest show coverage from Milan that you will find anywhere. Ciao!
